JUNO - The Observers
I never understand why but in most fantasy games and rpgs humans are often the most popular choices for characters. I mean when you could spend your time as a werewolf or a Minotaur or just like some kind of sentient gas why would you wanna be a silly biped from earth? But hey people make that choice all the time l, so why deny them? That said, I have decided there will be human’s of a sort in the world of JUNO.
I created the concept of the Observers after making my way through the many audio novels of the Bobiverse. A wonderful series about the expansion of the human race through the use of Vonnoymen Probes. An interesting concept of self directed and replicating artificial intelligence, guided by the memories of the humans used in their creation. Echoes of the people that they used to be flowing out into the void of space to see what cannot be seen by human eyes. Beyond the reach of light.
When I started to work on the world of JUNO it was to try and build something, a place in the imagination of the world, for the memory of my wife to live. Somewhere that might persist beyond my own mind and memory even after I am dead as well. And so it felt hopeful to believe that in some far off future, her mind and mine might be preserved and sent out to future the exploration of the universe. And somewhere out there in the dark, we could find each other again, over a strange world where the light is magic and the life is strange and wonderful again.
So there is JL1372, a stand-in for my Julie, an echo of her. The supervisor of the observers in orbit around JUNO’s star, JL1372 is chief of the human copies and organizes the effort to categorize and catalogue all that JUNO and it’s strangeness has. I’ve included other members of our collaboration as report writers in the articles written in our World Anvil. As we move to the time when all of you reading this will be able to contribute to the world of JUNO, I hope you will take advantage of the alien perspective of the changed humanity, and a chance to immortalize someone you love in the world that we make together.
