JUNO - Art Release - The Ngisikaa

Hey we are back!

But you might be wondering where we were that we needed to get back from? Probably not, but anyway this is the premise of this post so I’m just going with it.

As I have done with most things in my life recently, I decided last minute to do Nanowrimo this year at the last minute. So most of my creative writing time went to that during October and November and JUNO has been delayed a little by that. But luckily while I was working on other things there were several contributors who were hard at work bringing JUNO to life. I’d like to introduce you to our first art piece for the project. Behold the Ngisikaa!

A Ngisikaa managing their memories.

Brought to life by the wonderful artist Katie Cordy, whose work you can find here, the Ngisikaa is the first of our species to not only be described but visualized. And in the continued pursuit of being a colaborative and instructive project, we have a video from Katie showing the process of bringing this strange and wonderful creature to life. We started with the most creative of our creatures and I for one think Katie knocked it out of the park. She actually had to create triangular brushed to get the amazing crystallin imagery that suffuses the crabsquid. I love it so much!

Thanks so much for your attention and we hope you enjoy the return to weekly updates for Project JUNO.
